Ease Your Fear with Sedation Dentistry
Are you scared of the dentist? Do you fear stepping into a local Daphne dental office? Fairhope Cosmetic Dentistry understands that many patients have a fear of the dentist. When your fear causes dental anxiety, we are here to help.
Fairhope Cosmetic Dentistry is proud to offer sedation dentistry!
Many patients who are scared of the dentist tend to avoid having their teeth cleaned. The biggest concern we have is that you may have undiagnosed gum disease, tooth decay, or oral cancer. Dr. Boles cares about teeth and wants you to have a beautiful smile you can be proud of.
We are happy to provide sedation dentistry to patients throughout Fairhope. Whether you need a simple dental cleaning or a restoration treatment performed, we will be glad to discuss sedation dentistry with you.
Proudly Offering Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, referred to as laughing gas, is one of the most common forms of sedation dentistry. During your procedure, a mask will be placed over your nose. The mask will deliver a safe amount of nitrous oxide to you. The amount of gas you receive is controlled by your dentist.
Nitrous oxide is used for patients who have a mild to moderate fear of the dentist. The gas helps you relax while remaining awake.
Once the dental procedure is completed, you will be able to return to normal activities as usual within minutes with minimal effects, if any at all.
We Offer Oral Sedation
Oral sedation dentistry is used when patients have a strong fear and anxiety of the dentist. The team at Fairhope Cosmetic Dentistry will ask you to arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment. When you arrive, you will be given medication, typically in the form of a pill, to take.
The pill will place you in a sedated state, but you will still be awake. Some patients do drift off to sleep during their procedure, which is normal. Our team will pay special attention to your vital signs and monitor you throughout the entire dental procedure. Oral sedation is considered safe and effective.
If you are concerned about sedation dentistry, or you have questions about whether it is right for you, Dr. Boles is happy to speak with you. We take the time to listen to what you have to say. Dr. Boles will address your concerns and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision about your dental care.
How Sedation Dentistry Helps Dentists and Patients
When patients are scared of the dentist and experiencing fear, dental procedures become much more difficult. Sedation dentistry helps keep you relaxed so that your dentist can perform the work that needs to be done. When sedated, Dr. Boles is able to complete the entire procedure in one sitting to minimize the number of times you need to come into our dental office.
If you would prefer to have your procedures spaced out and done in multiple visits, please let us know, and we will discuss your options with you.
